Silicon Valley tech startup recruits Hong Kong creative agency for brand strategy, identity and website

MATRIX Industries innovates sustainable, efficient and commercially viable thermoelectric technology products. The Silicon Valley firm launched the world’s first body-heat-powered wearable, the PowerWatch.

MATRIX wanted its brand to reflect its bold vision to power the world with efficient thermoelectrics. MATRIX enlisted the Hong Kong branding agency Stepworks to refresh its brand strategy, identity and website.

Making heat cool

Stepworks helped MATRIX define its brand strategy with a brand model. This model formed the basis for conceiving Matrix’s new logo – a distinctive M reflecting the startup’s energetic spirit and the potential for thermoelectrics to optimise energy harvesting and refrigeration processes. Stepworks helped MATRIX express its new identity with a refreshed website.

One of the challenges of building the website was effectively conveying the advantages of MATRIX’s products to its target audiences. Stepworks developed helpful animations and simplified copywriting to clarify complex scientific and technological processes. MATRIX’s enhanced design language of contrasting colours aided site navigation and differentiated its products’ energy harvesting and cooling performances.

The refreshed identity and site launch helped MATRIX live up to its position as a frontrunner in market-ready materials science technology products. The enhanced branding helped bolster its credibility to investors as well as consumers buying from its growing PowerWatch range.
